Not everyone can afford high-end photographers or book a studio for a family photoshoot. I decided to take a chance and entered a giveaway contest, where the winner would receive a 15-minute photoshoot session from DollopSG and a 3-piece set from AHC. To my surprise, I was one of the winners of the giveaway. Immediately, I thought of inviting my family to join me for the photoshoot session.

We chose to schedule the photoshoot for December 2nd, a Saturday. This way, we’d still have time to rest on Sunday before the busy work and study week began on Monday. I booked a 15-minute session at their Bras Basah outlet, located at 231 Bain Street within the Bras Basah complex. The studio was a 35-minute drive from my place of residence. During the drive, I passed the time by listening to my favorite songs and watching series like “Goosebumps” and “Desperate Housewives” which was pre-downloaded on my Disney Plus app.

Alternatively, one can take a train or bus there. I recommend using the Moovit app to plan your travel; it saves time and hassle compared to searching for bus and train timings at stops and platforms.

Upon arrival, finding parking seemed like it might be a challenge, but we were fortunate to find a spot within the shopping center itself. With everything connected, we reached the studio with 5 minutes to spare. Our session was set for 3 pm, and Megan, the staff member, explained the photo-taking process.

The space was a bit small for four people, it was ideal for a maximum of two, but we managed. Utilizing a pink background and provided props, we aimed to make our experience more enjoyable. Despite being familiar with using a DSLR and understanding the option to switch between landscape and portrait, the 15-minute time constraint made me nervous to tilt the camera to a horizontal position. Consequently, we worked within our limitations.

Initially, fitting everyone into the frame was a challenge, often resulting in someone being out of the shot. However, after a few attempts, we succeeded. While 15 minutes was ample time and allowed for unlimited shots, I felt there should be some flexibility. For instance, adjustments to the camera angle and backdrop could possibly not be counted against the 15-minute session.

We thoroughly enjoyed selecting props and taking turns to capture photos. In total, we snapped about 230 pictures, including individual portraits, family portraits, duo shots with our parents, and my parents even took some couple shots!

The session concluded at 3:13, leaving us with two minutes remaining. I hesitated to voice my thoughts, mindful that I’d only won the session through a giveaway and didn’t want to overstep boundaries. Following the photo-taking, we moved to the computer to select our pictures. We could print 10, 4R pictures while the rest would be sent to me via email.

Overall, the process was smooth. I downloaded the pictures using the WeTransfer app and was thrilled with how they turned out. After collecting our pictures, Megan handed me the three-piece skincare set from AHC, the prize I’d won.

I had a wonderful time and would certainly return, perhaps with friends or even my boyfriend, eager to get a beautiful couple shot to display in my room!
